We welcomed Marlene Kunde, age 16 from Lonnig, Germany, to our humble abode last night. She is our guest until April 13, going to school daily with Lincoln and occasionally heading off for various local excursions with her German classmates. Their train from NYC got in about 8:30 and she was asleep by 9:30. Good thing, as it was about a 24-hour travel day for her! No more rest for the weary, though. Tonight we're subjecting her to the traveling Broadway production of "Funny Girl" at Proctor's Theater. First impressions: Her English is solid, if overly precise and polite, she seems kind, and she laughs at my jokes, so two thumbs up from me!
