Spring Break!

We have a full dance card this final high school spring break of our family's lives! I'm typing from Blue Point Coffee shop at 1100 15th St., N.W. Nursing a "mixed blend" (?) cold brew, about 10 oz., in a very vertical glass. This city can do better for $6. But the weather's right, spring is here, and everyone is in a great mood. Carey and I because we're not having to deal with the existential dread we face daily at our jobs, Lincoln because he's on vacation with his girlfriend, and Greta because she DOESN'T HAVE TO PAY FOR ANYTHING when we're around. Oh, and because we all love each other and life feels right when it's the just the four of us, like it has been since June 25, 2007.

The Washington Monument can be very intimidating up close.

Dinner at a funky Mexican place called MXDC

Mother and daughter reunion... this is AFTER I ran down 14th Street and she ran towards me and we embraced. :-)

McKenzie admiring the view of NYC from the waterfront at Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken, N.J., one of her top college choices. We stopped and did a self-guided tour on our way south. Like the rest of them we've toured the last few years, it smelled like MONEY.
