Legend-ary

We rang in Greta's birthday the only sensible way once she departed for a week with college friends in D.C. -- "An Evening with John Legend" at Proctors Theatre. Man is that guy handsome. Funny, too. And the King of Sexy Time Music. I'm pretty sure most every man in the audience, who wasn't already dating another man, left feeling inadequate. I honestly didn't know much of his story, so it was cool listening to him talk between songs. Didn't get cast on "Star Search" as a young boy! Graduated high school at age 16! Big break was playing the piano on track 13 of Lauryn Hill's "Miseducation of Lauryn Hill" in 2013, for which he self-negotiated a ludicrously low payment of $500.  He entertained for a solid two hours. Money well spent.

  1. When you say "self-negotiated a ludicrously low payment", does that mean he lowered their price or is $500 the best his negotiating skills could get?

  2. He was too naive to know about agents and managers so when Hill's recording studio called and inquired about his rate, he asked for $500. They said yes very quickly. He was a student at Penn at the time and his college buddies still call him "Track 13."
