Catching up...

Apologies for not blogging since we ended High School! Been a busy few days, but very fun.  Grandma Vickie drove down on Tuesday afternoon and we had a great dinner with Lincoln at The Nest, an upscale Southern Food place in Schenectady that never disappoints, except when the bill comes. They do an appetizer deviled egg that is out of this world.

Wednesday Lincoln's friends came over for pizza and wings and presents before lunch. He scored an awesome T-Rex Lego from Mckenzie that is currently in production on our dining room table. Also a packet of Pokemon cards from Lucy, one of which the Internet tells him is rare and currently selling for $157 in some online marketplace that values such things. Also a digital point and shoot camera from Greta for making memories in college. Oh, and a Tyler the Creator t-shirt from his mother that really impressed him. (He and his friend Will are seeing Tyler play MSG in the city on July 14.)

My folks made the trip over from Rodman later in the afternoon and we all journeyed to downtown Albany for the 6pm graduation ceremony. Speakers were meh; all could have been written by AI. It then took about 90 minutes to read the names. Lincoln was among the first 10 called because he performed a couple songs with Symphonic Band, echoing throughout the cavernous MVP Arena. The Class of 2025's gift was a scholarship for someone who overcomes challenges in their high school career. $500 awarded annually, endowed with $10,000, so it'll last at least 20 years.

After the ceremony, we split up and I came home with my parents while Carey, Vickie and Greta found a place in nearby Latham, N.Y., that boasts of a happy hour until 11 p.m. and created something they call a Pizookie. Bet you can guess what that is.

Thursday the grandparents left, Carey went back to work, and Greta, Lincoln and me puttered about. Went to the mall, where Greta bought herself some new running earbuds and a handheld 10 oz. water bottle for her hot training runs this summer in D.C. Have I mentioned yet in this blog that I'm running the D.C. Half with the kids on Sept. 14? Should be fun, as long as it's not 115 degrees.

Friday Greta and I biked the Saratoga National Historic Park, which we've done before, but which is much easier the fitter you are. Both of us remembered the hills being steeper, but it turns out cardiovascular health is directly correlated to how hard you perceive exercise to be.

This evening it's off to Jumping Jack's Drive-In in Scotia for dinner and a water skiing show on the Mohawk River.
