Not-so-big dog
Yeager had his annual check-up yesterday and Dr. Caravaty was REALLY impressed. He's lost 10 pounds in a year and looks great, says the vet. Apparently having a diabetic owner who walks you 3-5 miles daily is very good for a dog's health. 89.5 lbs was the reading on the scale. As for the fact that he will eat anything organic or inorganic that he sees that looks vaguely promising when on a walk, the vet suggested the only way to curb that is to wear a muzzle so he can't open his jaw. Everything else stays the same -- meaning his drug cocktail of prednisone for lupus, phenobarbital for canine epilepsy, and gabapentin for joint pain. So while he may look great at the human age of 70ish, he is not costing us any less.
