Friday in Kenya began with Greta, Anneli and Carey doing yoga in the yard with a guy named Basillio. He trains Anneli twice a week even when they aren't entertaining house guests. And his hands, declared one of Anneli's previous visitors, are "touched by God." I don't know about that, but the dude was smooth. Stalked the yard in his bare feet whispering sweet nothings into their ears and motivated them to stretch an extra 6" or hold a pose seconds longer. Impressive stuff by all three of them.
The afternoon was devoted to preparing for and celebrating Midsommar, which is something you observe if you're living in the residential compound of the Swedish diplomatic corp in Nairobi this time of year! Unlike the movie of the same name, it does not feature cannibalism, just a couple dozen Swedes in a Kenyan park eating various types of herring, lots of egg and cheese and potato pies, and a fair bit of drinking -- vodka, wine, and Swedish schnapps. Once significantly lubricated, everyone gathers around the maypole for a dance, or five or six.
