Pie pro

A delayed post from Greta's recent class at The Cook's Resource in Albany. It was one of her birthday presents, along with a couple fancy linen aprons. We dropped her off for the 2.5 hour course while Linc and I went mountain biking nearby and Carey and Phyllis explored the shops at Stuyvesant Plaza. She was paired with an older woman who had taken quite a few classes and liked to talk, but Greta reports that in between listening to her gab, she learned a few new techniques, including a trick for zesting lemons. When it was all over she left with three creations -- a roasted carrot and thyme tart with phyllo dough,  a lemon curd tart and a mixed berry galette. I wasn't there to take photos so all we have is a couple from Greta's phone of the savory tart. Though we do have one of her in her apron making her own birthday cake -- homemade vanilla with strawberries and cream cheese frosting!
