Channeling our inner tourists, we ventured into the city on Friday to check out the Nintendo store (I don't understand the fuss over the Wii U), the American Girl store (holy crap, that's a lot of girls with lookalike dolls!) and have lunch with my folks and Aunt Sara at Ellen's Stardust Diner, where what the kitchen lacks in culinary skills the wait staff compensates for with their voices. As our server said during her slightly off-key rendition of Taylor Swift's "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together," "none of us want to be working here the next time you come back. We all want to be on Broadway."
Anyway, it was too loud for conversation and the reuben tasted like rubber, but Esme and Greta were enthralled when the servers walked between the tables (and sometimes on the wide divider between booths) belting out show tunes. Credit to Dad for his iPhone photo.
