Carey braved Shop-Rite at 7am this morning, just after the Senior Shopping Hours. She reports most things were in stock but rationed (you could only grab one package of chicken or ground beef, for example) and everyone but the cashiers were wearing masks. They had also installed sneeze guards at the checkout line. We hadn't shopped since March 18, so comment with your guess as to how much we spent. Winner gets an annual subscription to Merrilly Yours. (Yes, readers, we will soon be charging for this content. We have to make up lost income somehow.) And bear in mind we were running low on things like dishwasher tabs, garbage bags, toothpaste, etc. Be well, everyone.
First guy I knew from the AP passed away yesterday at the age of 51. Great guy and super healthy, until he wasn't.

ReplyDeleteExcellent guess, very specific. I should note for the record that Dad guessed around $287 via text. But you're both wrong. My dear wife spent $608 at a grocery store. I'm told that 3 meals a day for two weeks is the equivalent of 168 "plates," so the math works out to less than $4 per plate. Needless to say, we will not be eating bread and water during this pandemic. Last night's dinner was soy-pepper pork chops, mashed potatoes and a tossed salad.
