Penultimate race

Greta raced in Fort Plain, N.Y., on Saturday, clocking her best mile time of the year -- 7:55! She placed 7th among 7th grade girls and earned her first Top 10 medal. Practice and commitment undoubtedly played a part, but she thinks her grandparents in the crowd made all the difference. I tell myself she hugged grandpa while gulping for air after crossing the finish line because he was the closest body related to her, but it may be she was thanking him for being there and helping her run so fast.
