Guitar God

Marshall's father Michael accompanied Greta and her classmates at the variety show last weekend. Michael plays guitar and sings silly songs. They first met when Greta was at preschool with Marshall and Michael used to come into the classroom now and again to entertain the kids. Anyway, before the show, the kids were sequestered in a classroom with coloring books and other things to pass the time. But of course Michael had his guitar and was warming up for the performance. Greta was the first child to gather around him. She was rapt that he had this ability to make up a song on the spot and create music. Afterward (out of Michael's earshot) I reminded her that Grandpa Jerry plays guitar, too, and without missing a beat she said, "but Grandpa Jerry plays better." It's a million miles from true (no offense, Dad), but proof that you're on the right track as a grandfather. And if you keep practicing -- well, who knows! Maybe you can get a look like this someday...
