I resolved in 2024 to... run a half marathon! The date is set -- April 13 -- and the route is allegedly easy, at least as far as that many miles on one's joints ever is. It's mostly on the Hedelberg-Hudson rail trail that terminates in downtown Albany and it's a downhill grade for almost the entirety, dropping 500' over the course of 13.1 miles. I'm running it with two of my colleagues, both of whom have done it before (and are younger than me, it should be noted. 😀) Organizers distribute their 12-week "training plan" next week and I'm looking forward to following it starting Jan. 15. For now, I get in about 10-15 miles a week on the treadmill in the evenings or during warm(er) weekend days. I'll have to ramp that up if I want to make it 13.1 in one run!
Good luck!
