When I came home for lunch yesterday Carey was complaining about "pins and needles" on her right side. She talked to a doctor via tele-health and he recommended she head to the ER to get checked out. So I took the afternoon off and drove her to the VA Medical Center, her preferred place of care. Once they escorted her back, it was full Covid protocols with no visitors. They even made her wait in a zip-up tent on one side of the waiting room, straight out of "Contagion." So we texted each other for six hours in between tests -- chest x-ray, CT scan, MRI. At one point a nurse said "code stroke" and Carey said she'd never seen medical professionals react so quickly. Suddenly 5-6 gowned individuals were in the room. Long story just a little bit longer.... the MRI revealed "she has a brain," said the humorous neurologist. No other alarming results. So she's one of the 3% of Covid patients who experience neurological symptoms. With rest and fluids and time, they hopefully dissipate with the disease.
