Saturday

A stunningly beautiful one here in the 518 as we say goodbye to summer. We started it with an 18-mile bike ride to Vischer Ferry, a small village in Saratoga County that dates back to before the Revolutionary War but is now just a general store with coffee and food, a volunteer fire department, and some very large homes.

When we got home in the late morning, we raked the lawn a bit to get ahead of the fall leaves and trimmed the front bushes. At 3 o'clock, we met up with our neighbor Jeff Corbin at Schenectady Porchfest, where the kids' former music teacher, Mr. Pandori, played trombone in a jazz ensemble.

At 7, I was in the UAlbany control room, wearing two headsets so I could talk to all the cameras as well as the sideline reporter. The Great Danes won their first football game of the season, beating Cornell 13-10.

Today I'm off for a morning bike ride with Jeff at the Albany Pinebush and then back to UAlbany for a Women's Soccer game at 3 p.m., while Carey meets with a fellow volunteer to organize the annual pie sale for Niskayuna Friends of Music.
