We had a lovely Saturday afternoon enjoying our first-ever annual Schenectady Soup Stroll. Met up with one of Carey's colleagues and his girlfriend and visited half a dozen local restaurants to taste 3 oz. of soup at each for $1 per sample. There were more than two dozen participating, but that's a lot of soup! My fave: Tom Yum Coconut Soup with Chicken from a Thai Place called Pho Queen. Carey's? Creamy Tomato and Sweet Harissa from Simone's Kitchen. That's a photo Greta took of it, above. They got extra points for presentation, as they first smeared the cup with cashew butter, then ladeled in the soup, then topped it with a balsamic drizzle and microgreens they grow in house. I didn't get a good group shot of the four of us, but here's Carey sampling the split pea from Maria's Cafe.
