Greta took her grandparents and me on a little field trip last weekend, visiting a local stream -- "Kill" is the Dutch word for stream -- where her Environmental Science teacher has her class doing some research. I've already forgotten most of what she told us, but her recall was impressive as she lifted stones and debris out of the water and showed us what microscopic life lies beneath. I've always admired her love of learning and can't wait to see where that takes her for the next four years!
