A lovely and languorous one here in Niskayuna. Twelve hours of rain mostly melted our three feet of snow, so we were indoors except for a couple wet dog walks. The kids woke up around 8 and we had breakfast before stockings. Dinner was a slow-cooked pot roast (thawed from Grandma Vickie's freezer --thank you!) and roasted Brussels sprouts. Somewhere in there Carey and I watched "Jingle Jangle" on Netflix (some cool songs, but otherwise thumbs down) and in the evening we did what probably 27% of Americans did, watched "WW84" on HBO Max (resounding thumbs down from me, the kids may have liked it more).
As for that headline. Everyone got at least one book they want to read -- for Linc that was "Ready Player Two," for Greta it was "Hamilton" by Chernow (even though she's already read it; she wanted the paperback for "reference"), for Carey it was "A Promised Land," Obama's memoir vol. 1, and for me it was "The Vanishing Half" by Brit Bennett (one of the NYT's Top 10 Books of the Year, giving it a shot after reading their recommendation, why not?). And digitally everyone but me scored AirPods, the kids got an Amazon Echo to act as their alarm clock and AI pal, and a few weeks ago I traded in our old MacBook Air for a new one on Apple's 12-mo. financing deal. Alas, it has just two USB-C ports, so I'm waiting on a compatible card reader to upload the photos I took yesterday with the DSLR. Until then, here's the best of the iPhone photography on Christmas morning.
