MPA is for Music Performance Adjudication. The bands perform three songs for a group of judges who then rate the performance in select categories. After playing the prepared pieces, the band "sight reads" a selection which is also judged.
Superior is the highest rating followed by excellent. The middle school band has never received less than a superior rating.
