Birthday recap

I'm biased, since we planned it, but Lincoln had a heck of a birthday celebration. Carey took Friday off and we drove up to Six Flags Great Escape, where we are proud season pass holders this year. I must say, it's changed a bit since Sara and me and the Steele kids called it Storytown U.S.A. Four roller coasters, a water park and enough thrill rides to make any stomach queasy. We had a great day riding them all and then stayed overnight at the Colonel Williams Resort in Lake George, which is ripped straight from the script of Best Exotic Marigold Hotel. An Indian couple at the front desk, floral bed covers, and gravel right outside your door for convenient car parking. Saturday morning we drove to Lake Luzerne about 20 minutes away and rode inner-tubes six miles down the Hudson River with Adirondack Tubing Company. The two-and-a-half-hour float was about 30 minutes too long and we all missed a few sunscreen spots before putting on our life jackets, but the weather was lovely and the trip very relaxing. I got a couple good shots at the theme park with Carey's iPhone, but we'll have to wait and see what the disposable waterproof camera returns for the tubing trip. Saturday evening we were home for presents, coconut cream pie and a screening of Dennis the Menace picked by the birthday boy.

Today it was relaxation, mostly, until we made a Lowe's run and Lincoln ruined his perfect 9-year-old face by slamming his head into a mid-aisle pole. No stitches required, just some super glue to hold the cut together. The kids are off to Harry Potter Summer Camp tomorrow for the week prior to the Fourth of July. All things considered, a lovely start to summer.
