Be it here noted that our goddaughter took her first substantial and prolonged steps at her 1st birthday party, observed, on May 9. Her godmother Carey Ann Mathews Merrill instructed her in the proper heel-toe placement, set her down on the lawn, and coaxed her into baby steps. Naturally I didn't have my phone and nobody else got any video, but I talked to her about it the following day and this is how she reacted.
