Progress report

Greta came home Friday with the usual bulging backpack. Tucked away inside was her homework folder, divided into halves -- Homework and Return to School. Nestled deep in the Return to School half was a 4 x 5 1/2" folder labeled "Progress Report Grade K."

Acting like it was a clue to Survivor's hidden immunity idol, Carey grabbed it and quickly scanned the columns. C, C, C, C, C, C, C?!?  "Greta, you got your report card! What are all these C's?" Greta looked up from the encylopedia she was memorizing and said, "C means Consistently Demonstrates Mastery, Mom."

We had an easier time understanding Mrs. Mendez's written comments:

Greta continues to be an integral member of our classroom community. She is extremely kind, thoughtful, and helpful to those around her. She has been a terrific teacher's helper these past two weeks! Greta is an important role model for her peers when she raises her hand to speak, walks quietly in the hallway, listens carefully, and completes her assignments. She always works hard and puts her best effort into everything she does. Greta enjoys coloring and making books in the Writing Center during free time. Greta has demonstrated consistent progress in all areas of the curriculum.
