Greta's 6th birthday, observed

With Grandma Vickie visiting and the first truly spring weekend of the year, we couldn't have picked a better time to celebrate Greta's 6th birthday. We started things off bright and early with a Fairy Party -- girls only! -- here at the house. Ten kindergarten and after-school friends came over to make fairy skirts, build a fairy house and plant a dianthus in a biodegradable pot. They feasted on fruit, cream cheese and jam finger sandwiches, pretzels dipped in chocolate and a flower cake. The 2 1/2 hour dropoff party seemed to end before it even started. Our big girl was very happy being the center of attention.
