5K the fun way

As a result of a brief Instagram scroll on Friday afternoon, Ella and I learned about a free 5k taking place at Freedom Plaza on Saturday for international women's day. We quickly registered and woke up Saturday morning ready to run.

All kinds of pre-race activities. We took advantage of the free yoga class, coffee tent, and warming bus

Neon pink shirts! They were a nice layer since we thought 50 would be warmer than it was.

The race itself was pretty quick. Ella (who regularly runs half marathons and is training for a full) matched my pace, and we kicked it up at the end for a total time of 27:58. I placed 3rd in the 15-19 year-old division and Ella, who's 20, was 10th in her division. All in all, a great start to spring break!

At the finish line!

Post run breakfast @ le Petit Monde (a favorite coffee shop)

  1. So proud! And so fast! Neither of my 5K splits were below 28! Then again, you ARE 34 years younger than me. :-)
