10K the hard way
Lincoln and I ran the Electric City 10K yesterday in easily the worst conditions we've ever run in, with crosswinds exceeding 30 m.p.h. at times, a biting cold, and a light residue of snow/ice in some spots on the road. Still, since we paid the registration fee, we dragged our butts out of bed and were at the starting line in the parking lot of Rivers Casino in Schenectady at 9:30. He went out fast, but having not run a mile in a few months, drifted back to the pack. Still, he outpaced me by 5 minutes. I was happy to finish in under an hour. Despite the conditions, the endorphins lasted throughout the day and we're both on track for another half marathon on April 12.
