Today it's a self-guided tour of Georgetown (did the Zoom version already and Greta is attending a summer leadership conference there for a week so will get a great feel for it then) and meeting the Girards for lunch. Apparently they have an 11th grader as well and she's in town checking out some schools of her own!

Fly like an Eagle
Greta's first formal in-person college tour is in the books! I'm a little sad that I wasn't there for it, but was thrilled to see the glow on her face after a long day with Carey at American University. After dropping them off, I went on a nostalgic driving tour of the neighborhood where I cut my NBC News teeth, remember all those 10p-6a shifts at the news desk, hoping the red phone wouldn't ring from the White House or Pentagon! Lincoln and I spent the day with the Winthrops, who live just a mile or so from AU.
Ate lunch at the Chevy Chase Country Club and then played paddle tennis for a couple hours. Lincoln's long arms and legs were an asset. Once he figured out the touch required to keep the ball in the court, he could chase down just about anything! Walked their adorable dog Winslow after reuniting with the girls and enjoyed takeout dinner from Lebanese Taverna. The absolute best thing about old friends is how easy and comfortable the relationship is, even after years apart.
