The big kid is at Clarkson University this week,
getting her S.T.E.A.M. on and deducting another $700 from her future tuition if and only if she attends Potsdam's engineering college. Pretty proud of her, as always. Any girl from last year interested in attending the Horizons II program had to reapply, but the competition was stiffer. Enrollment went from 180 during the two weeks of Horizon I to 120 during the two weeks of II. If she wants to try for Horizons III next year, it'll go down to just 48 girls selected from across New York state. Anyway, we dropped her off on Sunday. Second floor of Brooks Hall. Roommate seemed nice -- Sarah from Camilus. It took about 30 minutes to unpack her one suitcase and we left her on the bed about to re-read Jane Eyre. We pick her up on Friday after a presentation for families showcasing what they learned this week.

Meanwhile, Lincoln is attending his first (and only) week of what's called Niskayuna Playground Camp, which is sort of a misnomer because Van Antwerp Middle School doesn't even have a playground. So his morning is filled with games of Four Square and Mumball and whatever else the counselors think of to fill the hours. He bikes to and from the school and is home by 1230 to have lunch and mostly relax in the air conditioning. He's really into the Lost Keepers series of books and is plowing through Book 5 as I type.
Yeager spent most of a day at Grandma's on Sunday as we drove north to drop off Greta. Before she left, Greta took this awesome photo of him in the bushes, stalking the birds. He hasn't caught one yet, but when he does it's gonna be nasty. Blood and feathers everywhere.
