A legit baller

I'm not sure it gets any better than watching your 13-year-old daughter play her first organized Middle School basketball game. Greta Merrill, No. 1 on her jersey and in our hearts, joined her fellow Niskayuna Junior Lady Warriors for the first game of the season against the Shaker Bison on Tuesday. The home team came out firing, but stalled in the second half to lose, 30-19. They play four 7-minute quarters, plus an extra session that doesn't count but gives everyone some playing time. Greta played a little in the third and the entire extra session. No points, but lots of effort and a few rebounds. She also set a couple great screens. The environment wasn't super camera-friendly -- metal chairs lining one side of the court, no bleachers -- but I got a few decent ones. Many more home games to go!
