Greta received the third-highest honor in scouting on Friday night at troop 2351's end-of-year award ceremony. Having volunteered more than 20 hours and created chew toys made out of old t-shirts for the rescue dogs of Guilderhaven Animal Shelter, she was given a Bronze Award, the highest achievement a junior scout can obtain. (Middle school girls earn a Silver Award, while high schoolers can win the Gold.) The ceremony was held in the Craig school cafeteria on an unlighted stage, so this photographer didn't have much to work with. Carey was given a campfire pin for chaperoning the camping trip and Greta enjoyed pinning that on her. In addition to her Bronze Award, Greta came home with eight badges for various achievements and 11 activity patches. All 19 of them are getting sewn on as I type. I'll have her model the vest when we get it back.
