New Year's Day Hike

We don't resolve much when new years roll around here, but we do go for a hike on New Year's Day. This year it was about a mile and a half in the local "reservation." Park in Tulip Springs, walk across South Orange Avenue and down a dirt path to a place called Hemlock Falls. It was mostly frozen this year with pockets of running water. Greta pulled the classic "you're not the boss of me" move. It went like this:

Dad: "Greta, don't step there."
Greta (stepping and dunking her left leg up to her knee): "Ohhh!"

So Carey sacrificed one of her fleece socks, insulated Greta's rubber boot with a Ziploc bag, and all was well. Momgyver.

We found this guy in the woods.
He was carrying this peanut.
The Bailey kids always look awful in photos.
This is before the foot soaking.

This is after. She's smiling through the hypothermia.
