Cheers for the freakin' weekend!

That's a Rihanna lyric. Can someone explain to me why her song, not even owned by her, it's a Roc Nation production in Jay-Z's catalogue, wasn't allowed to be played at the start of Thursday night NFL games? She was a victim of domestic violence so we can't play her music now that we realize we have domestic violence offenders in the league? Very strange.

Anyway, I love the lyric and sing it in my head as I leave work every Friday. It's my favorite day of the week, unless a celebrity dies. The kids are always in a good mood in the morning, everyone at work shares the same weekend anticipation, and I try my hardest to leave at 5pm on the nose.

Yesterday was particularly special because when we got home Grandma arrived! With her work schedule and knee surgeries, she hasn't been here since last Thanksgiving and the kids had a lot to show her. We then went to dinner at Jade Lake for some overpriced Chinese on vinyl chairs and rounded out the evening with "The Fault in Our Stars," a film explicitly made to make you feel thankful.

Now it's Saturday and in about eight hours Carey, me, Carey's sister Chris and her husband Mark (driving down today from Scranton) will be saying goodbye to The Captain. Maybe he'll do this again and it wasn't a one-time thing for Gatorade.
