First ice skating lesson

Greta and Lincoln laced up the blades this afternoon for a 30-minute lesson at nearby Cody Arena. Greta was assigned to the Beginner class and Lincoln to something called Tot 1. Unlike plenty of the kids on the ice, both showed zero fear and did whatever the coach told them to do. For Lincoln, that was a lot of "marching" in place while holding on to the boards, and then using that same marching technique to cross the rink a few times. Greta learned the basics of both forward and backward skating, how to balance with your arms, and how to stop by pushing the outside edge of the blades away from your body. They were enthusiastic enough afterwards that we think we'll return next week.
