Arrived safely home late Friday night. Still amazing how long it takes to move across this big country of ours. I guess SEIU (Service Employees International Union) would deem what we did a success. About 3,000 members represented by their Local 721 showed up outside City Hall on Thursday morning for a 2-mile march through downtown L.A. They got lots of great media coverage and blitzed social media with photos and drone videos. At the very least it was a show of force that tells the county the local union is serious about wanting a fair contract and is prepared to strike if needed. If they are pushed to that in May, it'll mean a real loss of public services for Los Angelenos. Everything from hospitals to clean streets to the court dockets would be impacted.
Anyway.
I got a lovely jog in along the Pacific Ocean shore in Santa Monica on Wednesday evening, in addition to that aforementioned L.A. Clippers game on Tuesday. Here are a few photos I took and here's a good look at some of the professional shots the union got of the rally and march.
