Quick Catch Up

Yikes! We have been remiss in putting anything here to assure family and friends that all is well chez Merrill.  So here's the snapshot of our August whirlwind so far:

Greta returned from her Horizons adventure at Clarkson on Saturday afternoon having affirmed her adoration of math and science, and having discovered she will never be a food anthropologist.  She animatedly shared her "Red Team Cheer" (which she will hopefully add in the comments), declared with fascination how math proved that the Barbie Dolls of old are of nightmare proportions, and walked us through her solving of a murder mystery using forensic science.  It was a week that went by too quickly in her mind, and she hopes to be invited to reapply (and be accepted) again next year.

Max and Esme arrived on Saturday evening, and the kids have enjoyed the last few days playing out complex battles in Pocket Park, Nerf wars in and around the house, and digital confrontations on the Xbox. They have also assembled at least 2,472 Lego pieces in various configurations.  While the boys enjoyed 9 holes of disc golf at the 18-hole Niskayuna course on Sunday afternoon,  Esme, Greta, and I thoroughly enjoyed Mamma Mia...so much so that we ran into Barnes and Noble to pick up the CD!  I expect them to have the lyrics memorized by the end of the summer.

As for the pest, I mean pets, Yeager went to the vet for his annual checkup today.  He is up to 87 pounds, handled his booster shots like a champ, and will have additional blood work for his seizure disorder in another month. Mittens was thrilled to have Greta return, and is sad to have her gone again, as Rob took the kids to South Lake today.  Now Pat and Jerry get to enjoy their company for a few days.

So now you are caught up!  Hopefully Rob or Greta can add pictures to accompany the above tidbits...I'm not sure why they aren't in the cloud for easy access! And I also expect us to return to the regular blogcast, with your host, Rob Merrill, very soon!
