August at South Lake, 2015

Another summer vacation at South Lake is in the books, this one very different than the others. Sure, we swam and kayaked and pontoon boated and took that aforeblogged trip to Old Forge, but Carey wasn't there for more than half of it thanks to the draconian vacation policy at the new job and the kids were slightly on edge the whole time because they knew in the back of their minds they weren't coming home to South Orange but to Niskayuna. Still, I don't have any regrets and hope that with time they won't either. As the pictures show, they relished an extra week with Emma and Jack Bailey and even though they're young, I think they'll stay good friends. It will take some effort because there are a lot of major life changes that happen after you're 8 and 10, but if they work at it and we (the parents) commit to staying close, Thy Will be Done.
