Five hours of pretty much unsupervised play, Domino's for dinner, frosted brownies for dessert, and now it's bedtime for this quartet. Mom and Dad Hayden are at some PTA fundraiser that somehow we never hear about early enough to make our own plans.

Meanwhile, Mama Bird Merrill has a busted wing. She took advantage of a work-from-home day on Friday and picked up the kids early from school. They headed to Flood's Hill for a few pre-sunset sledding runs, but cut it short after Carey jammed her gloves into the icy snow in an attempt to change course and avoid hitting some other kids in the middle of the run. She iced it all night, but went to the doctor this morning and learned her thumb is fractured. So it's off to an ortho next week. In the meantime, I think she's enjoying asking me to carry the laundry basket and stuff the pillows into the pillow sheets. To make her feel better this afternoon, she had a pedicure and wants readers to know she picked a color called baroque because her thumb is b-roke. Get it?
