Our pre-winter snowfall stuck around for a few days, long enough to form a crusty hardpack and inspire Greta to roll a snowman on Dec. 21, when the mercury topped 60 degrees. She had a ball and was fairly pleased with the result. In the morning, just like Frosty, it was nothing but a small baseball-sized snowball with the button eyes, carrot nose and winter hat lying forlornly on the grass.
