One of the best things about our annual Halloween party is the kids get to try out their outfits so we (let's be honest, Carey) can make adjustments before Oct. 31. Greta's seems pretty simple this year -- she'll be a black cat complete with drawn-on whiskers, pointy ears and a tail. The finishing touch is a collar that Mittens never would wear with a purple heart that identifies the wearer as Mittens Merrill, who resides at 266 Ward Place in South Orange. The broom and the Crocs in this photo won't be seen on Halloween night.
Lincoln, meanwhile, continues to think way outside the box and will be a Skylander named Pop Fizz. He's defined by the potions he shakes to get away from the bad guys, but the defining aspects of his costume are lots of blue (new sweatshirt and lots of colored felt), long fingernails (from the Dollar Store), and yellow bugged-out eyes on the top of his head (tennis balls cut in half, sorry you can't seem them in this photo).
