Sara and I made an impromptu trip to Rodman this weekend to spend some time with my father on his 70th birthday and his father a week after turning 98. It also happened to be Grandpa Bob's last weekend in the home he's lived in since 1930-something. He's headed to a nursing home in Lowville, where we all hope he'll live comfortably until the end of his days -- be they a few months or 20 more years.
I'm a little nervous that Grandpa will make this face more often than the happy face above, but time will tell. Selfishly, I'm very happy that my father will get to spend more time with his grandchildren and enjoy all the years he has left in this life.
Thanks for posting the top picture. Very nice to see you all together.
ReplyDeleteIt was great seeing him. Still a very sharp mind at times. Asked about all our kids, did the math and said he had 9 great grandchildren, and agreed with Sara when she said "you won" because you have 3 kids and the rest of us only 2. :-)
ReplyDeleteThat's a wonderful photo, Rob. Best wishes to your grandfather in his new "adventure" and to your parents in theirs.
