Weekend

We crossed the Tappan Zee on Saturday for a quick overnight with the Girards. Grandma and Grandpa were visiting to watch Max's performance in "The Little Mermaid," so we thought we'd join them. Max played Ariel, King Triton and Sebastien, simultaneously, and was given an Actor's Equity contract before curtain call. Not really. But he could have! Max was a proud sailor and a shark. No solos, but he blended seamlessly into the chorus and looked damn good doing it.

Before the show Saturday night, Peter took Dad and I out for what he called a fishing trip, but what was really more like we were the Coast Guard and the fish were the drug smugglers. Dad and I were told to look for flocks of seagulls at sea level. When they were spotted -- hundreds of them -- we gunned the engine and dropped in our lines. The striped bass were biting, but none were big enough to eat. All in all, a fun couple hours, though my tailbone does still hurt a little from what Peter called "a mild chop."
One of these kids is in 7th grade and one is in 4th. They were looking for any bird to eat their pancakes.

Dad likes this picture because I am either about to eat my sister or am giving her sage advice.
