We started with a hike to Hemlock Falls Saturday afternoon with eight of her pals, plus siblings Charlotte and Lincoln. The girls enjoyed splashing through the stream, scrambling up the rocks, and generally just not listening to anything we asked them to do. Carey made 500 sandwich triangles, cut up pounds of fruit, and accessorized with some Smart Food and potato chips. Not a complaint was heard from the hungry kids.
When we were back in the parking lot it was time for cake. Carey's homemade creation this year was inspired by the waterfall itself. Yes, she could have commissioned one that looked like water and trees and rocks, but what fun is that? This one had an ingredient anything store-bought would lack -- LOVE.
