State of the Union

Greta spiked a fever of 103 on Thursday night. Like good suburban parents, we dosed her with Motrin Friday morning and sent her to school, where the nurse was oblivious to the contagion among the population. Carey picked her up early on Friday since her company kindly closes a couple hours early on holiday weekends. Yesterday she didn't feel like doing anything except resting and watching TV, so that's what we did. Late in the afternoon she complained of a sore throat so we took her to the local urgent care place that of late has replaced our pediatrician, who's not open on weekends. Doc gave her a small dose of antibiotics and she's perked up a great deal today. Still has a hacking cough, but is much more lively and playing with her brother -- who's sure to get it next.

Anyway, all this means our week ahead is a bit different. Instead of dropping the kids off with Grandma and Grandpa this weekend while I jet to Hollywood for the Oscars and Carey skips the stress of solo parenting, we're now hosting Grandma and Grandpa here in South Orange from Monday-Thursday. And I'm still going to Hollywood to congratulate "The King's Speech" on running the table.

Anyway, a few photos from breakfast.

  1. Her temp Thursday evening was 101, not 103. And you told me she didn't have a fever Friday morning when you took her to school. Friday night at bedtime it was 103. We are NOT "those" suburban parents. Please.
